Extensible Library for Federated Queries

The ability to send a single query across a network to multiple searchable sources is essential to solving many of the technical problems encountered in a research environment. Spin is a general framework for constructing federated networks of data sources to do just that. Spin's core feature is data-agnostic support for broadcasting queries and aggregating results, allowing collections of data sources to be treated as a single conceptual unit. These data sources may be located anywhere, as long as they're accessible via a network. Spin has served as the network protocol for several CBMI initiatives including SHRINE and eagle-i.
