I'm in SWEET and I'm trying to follow the training materials.  We've setup
the software as a central search environment.  According to the manual, we
should be able to add to resources that you can browse via the "Browse
Resources" section. Example  "All Resources Types" (add) is what's in the
manual.  When we are in as any user, whether or not as an admin or level 4
user, we cannot add.  It's not clear or at least, I can't find where I can
change the ACL that would make it so that we can add.

 

Please advise.

Hi Todd:

"All Resource Types" will not have "Add New" next to it, but resource types below that should have the "Add New" link. Can you confirm that the links you are missing are the "add new" links next to each resource type (circled in the attached screen shot)?

For reference, this screen shot was taken from the Harvard SWEET on production (Application version 2.0 MS2.19).

Hello Marc,

 

I have a theory, but I need to confirm it with you.   Thanks to your
attached png file, I noticed that it's under an organization.  I believe the
user, on our site, is looking for the "add new" and has yet to create an
organization.  Is it possible that once an organization is created, the All
Resource Types will allow for additions?

Bingo ? you got it. Resources much have an owning organization. Please have the user try creating an organization (such as a laboratory) and then trying to create a resource. I think that should be all you need to do, but let us know if that doesn't get you the "add new" link.

Institutional search should only be searching the institution's resources.  If you are seeing all the resources, then I would check the following:

1) Do you have the institution search installed? Latest is: http://infra.search.eagle-i.net:8081/nexus/content/repositories/releases/org/eagle-i/eagle-i-webapp-institution/2.0-MS2.15/eagle-i-webapp-institution-2.0-MS2.15.war

2) Check the following properties in eagle-i-apps.properties file:
eaglei.search.is.central=fasle

3) If the above property is not set, that is fine. It defaults to false.

4) Is your institution search installed in the same tomcat as your sweet & repository? If not, institution search requires the whoami.xml file to be properly configured.

Let us know if the above doesn't work.

1) Institution search is installed. It is version 2.0-MS2.14.

2) eaglei.search.is.central=false was not set, but rather commented out.
When we set it to false, search from our institutional page is still a
central search.

4) We have the following organizational structure for our installation
/opt/eaglei/repo
/opt/apache-tomcat-7.0.40/webapps/institution
/opt/apache-tomcat-7.0.40/webapps/sweet
/opt/apache-tomcat-7.0.40/webapps/sparqler

Would it be helpful if I sent the whoami.xml file? I am not quite sure what
the proper configuration would be.

Let me jump in here for a clarification: do you want the upper right search bar on your institutional landing page (as we call it) to return only Penn results? By institutional landing page, I mean the Penn equivalent of https://harvard.eagle-i.net/

Sophia,

1) Institution search is installed. It is version 2.0-MS2.14.

2) eaglei.search.is.central=false was not set, but rather commented out. When we set it to false, search from our institutional page is still a central search.

4) We have the following organizational structure for our installation
/opt/eaglei/repo
/opt/apache-tomcat-7.0.40/webapps/institution
/opt/apache-tomcat-7.0.40/webapps/sweet
/opt/apache-tomcat-7.0.40/webapps/sparqler

Would it be helpful if I sent the whoami.xml file? I am not quite sure what the proper configuration would be.

Hi Faith,

Disregard everything I said earlier, I misunderstood what the problem was.

There is a way to configure the upper right search bar on your landing page to point to your institution search.  There is one caveat though, at this time, there is a minor bug where autosuggest will not work if you point that search bar an institution search.  You will be able to search though.

If you'd like to proceed without the autosuggest:

1) Find your repository configuration file
+--> ${REPO_HOME}/configuration.properties
2) Add the following property and set it to your institution (as in the example here):
+--> eaglei.repository.centralSearch.url=https://eagle-i.itmat.upenn.edu/institution

You'll need to restart tomcat to pick up these changes, but that should do the trick.  Let me know if that doesn't work.
