Michael Cherry is the Senior Release Operations Engineer for Harvard Catalyst’s Biomedical Informatics Program. He brings a broad range of experience to the Harvard Catalyst team, drawing on over 15 years as a release engineer and software configuration manager working in diverse industries including financial services, e-commerce, government, and academia. He has worked as an individual contributor, team member, and team lead in a variety of organizational settings, ranging from large to small to start-up. He has worked with a wide array of platforms and technologies, concentrating since the late 90s in supporting web application development. Prior to specializing in software configuration management, he worked for five years as a programmer & analyst, giving him an unusually well-grounded perspective into the needs of both the engineering and operational sides of a software development organization. In his current work, Mike is helping to support both the open.med portal and the projects that use it. In May 2015, he received a master’s degree in the Information Technology program at Harvard Extension School.
