Andy McMurry, PhD, cofounded “open.med” with developers across Harvard Medical School-affiliated teaching hospitals with the intent to share Open Source code, infrastructure, and community. Meetups started with a few developers at CHIP in 2006 and grew to roughly 50 participants. Recurring themes for meetup discussions focus on “how to run a successful open source project,” DIY learning tutorials, and sharing open source infrastructure.
SHRINE, Pathology Specimen Locator, Scrubber, and AEGIS are all projects Andy worked actively to contribute to the open.med community.
Today, Andy is the CTO for “Medal,” a health informatics company providing easier sharing of health records to improve care delivery outcomes.
